Harry Bear for Mayor! - January 2008
This is to let you know that I have it in mind to stand for election as Mayor of London. As the first teddy bear to become an MP I believe that I can offer Londoners something new. My candidacy would serve many purposes. It would give a voice to the many Londoners who (like voters in Dudbury) believe that conventional party politics has failed them. It would also highlight the weakness of London's system of government, which simply does not have the power to make a real difference to London life.

In The Media
"Writer Richard Heller's Westminster launch party for his children's book Membear Of Parliament - about a teddy bear who goes into politics - was attended by a variety of politicos, ranging from Labour's Denis Healey to Tory MP John Redwood. David Cameron snd a note of support (Gordon Brown didn't). Told what the party was in aid of, a policeman at the gate said "a bear couldn't do much worse than the lot in there."
