I took my message to the streets of Dudbury

My Maiden Speech

Mr Harry Bear (Dudbury): Mr Speaker, I thank you and the House for letting me deliver my maiden speech. I know that I have to say a good word about all the people who were MP for Dudbury before me. That is easy, for there have been just two MPs since the Dudbury constituency was formed. Mr Bertram Wooster, our first member, was the best-dressed member of this House, and his successor, now Lord Jeeves of Brinkley Court, was admired for his expertise in every subject under the sun. They are both a tremendous example to me. I know that I am also expected to say what a wonderful place Dudbury is. But I shan't.

[Hon Members: Oh!]

Dudbury is the most boring town in Britain. There is nothing to do in Dudbury - especially for children, and especially outdoors. They have no excitement at all - they do not even get scared by monsters, because no monster would be seen dead in Dudbury. I came to this place to do something for the children of Dudbury. And for the pensioners of Dudbury, like my mother and father, in the attic with no money. And for the hospital staff of Dudbury, overworked in overcrowded wards. I will not rest in this place until Dudbury becomes a fairer place and a less boring one to live in.

[Hon Members: hear, hear!]"

My Letter in Support of the NACCC

I became involved in securing the future of the Child Contact Centre in Dudbury. These centres deserve to be better known, so I have written the following letter to all MPs:
